Dear parishioners and visitors,
It is with great joy that I welcome you to the new website of our Parish of Santa Maria Assunta in Cielo (Saint Mary of the Assumption). This space is designed to welcome and inform you, and to accompany you in the life of our Christian community.
Our church, standing in the heart of Rocca Priora’s historic center, is a place rich in history, faith, and beauty. Commissioned by the noble de Savelli family, it was consecrated in 1464 by Cardinal Bessarion and originally dedicated to Saint Roch. Over the centuries, it has undergone numerous expansions and artistic enhancements, featuring *peperino* stone columns, splendid stained-glass windows, frescoes, and a magnificent Renaissance portal that continues to welcome the faithful and visitors alike.
This history is not merely one of stone and art, but above all of the people, faces, families, and generations who have lived out and preserved the faith in this place. Today, as in the past, our mission is to proclaim the Gospel, celebrate the sacramental life, and journey together as the people of God.
This website aims to be a simple, useful tool for staying up to date on celebrations, events, catechesis, and charitable initiatives, while also serving as a space to find words of hope, reflection, and communion.
I invite you to visit often, share the site with others, and feel like a living part of our community.
